What's the difference?
All Ring Video Doorbells can send notifications to your phone, tablet and PC when anyone presses your doorbell or triggers the built-in motion sensors. When you answer the notification, you can see, hear and speak to visitors from anywhere. The main differences between each doorbell are their additional features and how they receive power.
3rd Generation
Video Doorbell 3 is powered by a rechargeable, quick-release battery pack for easier charging or can be hardwired to an existing doorbell system. It has all the features of Ring Video Doorbell 2 plus Dual-Band Wi-Fi at 2.4GHz and 5GHz (vs 2.4GHz only on Video Doorbell 2) for enhanced connectivity and an additional Near Motion Zone feature that provides motion detection in areas only 12-38cm in front of your home (reducing unnecessary Motion Notifications and saving your Video Doorbell 3 battery life). Video Doorbell 3 also has improved screw strength, a redesigned easy-to-remove faceplate, and automatic chime connection which makes installing your video doorbell easier than ever.
